Colchester is Britain's oldest recorded town and links with the past are visible wherever you go including the Roman Wall, a Norman Castle and a variety of buildings in the town centre dating back to the time of English Civil War.
Yet Colchester is a thriving and busy town ideally situated for commuting to London some 45 minutes away by train. Also Stanstead Airport is only 40 miles away and the port of Harwich with regular ferries to the continent is less than half an hour by road.
Colchester also boasts a world renowned Zoo, a Country Park can be found to the north of the town at High Woods and the beautiful Suffolk countryside made famous by Constable's paintings is 5 miles away.
Add to that the University, two of the top secondary schools in the country and an excellent Sixth Form College and Institute and you begin to see why the town is one of the most popular places to move to in the south east.
